Dear Parents
I think we are finally back on track after a slightly disruptive start to the term. As usual, it has been hectic, so having a long weekend in the next few days is very timely. I would like to thank all the parents for attending the Parent Information Night earlier this week. The vibe from them was very positive and I know they appreciated the work the teachers put into preparing the information to help make things flow in the classrooms. Please remember that the teachers are always available to meet with you regarding your children’s progress. You don’t need to wait for the parent meetings later this term.
Gratitude Focus The thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings. Henry Ward Beecher.
The Year of St Joseph The Church has dedicated 2021 to be known as the Year of St Joseph. He is an important figure for us because Mary MacKillop was a Josephite sister. She was very devoted to Joseph, Jesus and John the Baptist, which is why you see the three Js on her cross. One of our Year 6 students has shared this reflection with us on St Joseph; “Joseph was a humble and hard working man who was very faithful, loving and kind to others. He always had a loving heart”. We will be celebrating St Joseph’s day on 19 March with a whole school Mass. All parents are most welcome to attend.
Swimming Carnival Our faction swimming carnival will be held at Bayswater Waves on Friday 5 March for the students in Years 4 to 6. This carnival is always a highlight of Term 1. Mr Power will get all the necessary details out soon. I’m sure that he will organise another high quality carnival and parents and grandparents are most welcome to attend.
First Reconciliation As we know, Lent is a time for reflection and for our Year 3 students, it is a very special time. They will be making their First Reconciliation with Fr John and Fr Mark later this term. To start the programme, there will be a parent information night on Wednesday 3 March in the Church at 7.00pm. As usual, the evening starts with a parish Mass and then Fr John will run a session for parents immediately afterwards. Please keep our Year 3 students in your prayers this Lent.
Sad News It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that one of our parents sadly passed away. Katrina McNeill, mother of Jayden in Year 2 returned to God last week. Please keep the McNeill family in your prayers during this sad and challenging time.
Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
