From the Principal – Term 2, Week 5

May 19, 2021

 Dear Parents

Thank you and well done to Mrs Sonja Robertson, Mrs Jan Nottle, Mrs Jacki Tucker and Fr John for preparing our Year 4 students so well last weekend to receive Holy Communion for the first time. They were beautiful Masses and the students were simply amazing. I’m sure all the parents in attendance were very proud of them too. Don’t forget to go to Mass this weekend to collect your certificates!

Gratitude Reflection Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Interschool Swimming Carnival The original carnival was postponed due to the last lockdown. We are now going to hold the carnival on Thursday 27 May. Mr Power will send the updated details home to all competitors.

NAPLAN Well done to all students and teachers in Years 3 and 5 for your excellent participation in this year’s NAPLAN tests. We look forward to getting the results soon so that we can identify areas of strength as well as areas to improve in.

School Photos Please make sure your children have polished their shoes and have combed their hair for the photos which will be taken this week. They always make such special memories for years to come. All students will be required to wear their full winter uniform so they can look super special.

Year 6 Camp Without fail, if you ask any Year 6 student what their favourite memory of the academic year was, they all say it is the camp. This year’s camp will once again be held at Ern Halliday in Hillarys, which I believe is the best one. The camp will be held from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 June and it will focus on team building and personal challenges where the students will be pushed outside their comfort zones. However, we know this is the space where growth occurs, and we usually see a huge surge in confidence from each student by the end of the camp. I would like to thank the staff involved in organising this year’s camp for their efforts so far. It promises to be another great camp.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
