From the Principal – Term 2, Week 7

Jun 2, 2021

 Dear Parents

Thank you and well done to all our interschool swimmers as we came second overall at the recent interschool carnival. This is one of our best performances ever and everyone should be very proud of their achievements. A big thank you is extended to Mr Power for his excellent organisation of our squad.

Year 6 Camp I am currently with the Year 6 classes at Ern Halliday Camp in Hillarys. I have been coming here for years as I believe this is the best facility which offers amazing experiences for our students. They will be doing activities such as archery, orienteering, rock climbing, BMX riding, flying fox, swinging from the roof of a hall as big as ours by a rope and other challenging activities which focus on team building and being challenged by choice. The favourite one for most students is called Lost Pilot. This is where an imaginary pilot has crashed his helicopter and the students must work in teams to recover him before the enemy gets him. It is always a lot of fun being on camp, even though we all come home exhausted!

Term 3 PD Date Change Unfortunately, due to our presenters being unavailable, we have had to change the date for the staff professional development day, which was originally planned for Monday 19 July, the first day of Term 3. The new date has been set for Friday 13 August which is at the end of Week 4. We will be having a day looking at our Literacy focus and how it aligns with the CEWA Vision for Learning document. Please accept my apologies.

Reports It’s that time of year where the teachers are very busy writing end of semester reports for your children. I will be reading them very soon and as usual, they will be available online to you on the last Monday of the term. This allows you the time and opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher if you have any questions. The reports will go live on Monday 28 June. It usually happens around 3.30pm and we will endeavour to get them to you on time.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
