Dear Parents and Caregivers

I can’t believe that it’s only about six weeks to Christmas! The teachers are busy writing reports and preparing for all our end of year activities. The Year 6 students are in their final weeks here at Mary Mac, and we are about to welcome a new intake of Kindergarten students. Before you know it, summer will be here, and we will be enjoying time together with our families over the Christmas vacation. Before then, we still have plenty to do, and I invite all members of our community to engage in the usual end of year activities. The main one being the AGM of the School Advisory Council and P&F on Monday 21 November from 5.15pm in the Hall. Please come along and support these important parent bodies and hear what they have achieved this year. As usual, the P&F are always looking for new members to join in with our community building activities.

Resilience Reflection Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

Year 5 Summer Carnival This will take place this Friday 11 November for our Year 5 students and Mr Power will send all the relevant information home to parents. As usual, I’m sure our students will have lots of fun and display their usual high standard of good sportsmanship. Parents and grandparents are most welcome to come along and cheer on our students.

Remembrance Day As it falls on a Friday, we will hold a small ceremony during the assembly this week. Parents and grandparents are most welcome to attend.

Kindergarten Orientation On Thursday 17 November, we will hold our annual orientation sessions for our new Kindergarten students. For our existing families, the session goes from 9.00am to 9.45am and for our new families, it will go from 10.00am to 10.45am. There are only one or two places left for next year’s intake, so if you have a younger child who is coming, and you haven’t let us know yet, please make it a high priority to let us know as it will soon fill.

Swimming Carnival This will be held on Friday 18 November at Bayswater Waves as it was postponed in Term 1 due to Covid. Mr Power will send the details home and please feel free to come along and support our young swimmers.

Awards Ceremony This special event will take place on Wednesday 23 November at 9.00am in the Hall. At the conclusion of the ceremony, we will hold our volunteers’ morning tea in the staffroom. I look forward to seeing the parents of our award winners as well as our many volunteers on this day as we come together as a community to celebrate so many things of which we are proud.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
