From the Principal – Term 2, Week 7

Jun 7, 2023

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of another busy term here at Mary Mac. The teachers are busy writing end-of-semester reports and I have even managed to read a few. From what I have seen so far, it looks like our students have made a great start to the year. The reports will go live for parents to access on Monday 26 June. Collecting student data and writing the reports takes an enormous amount of time and effort and I would like to acknowledge our teachers who have worked so hard this year.

Awareness/Compassion Reflection More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgement. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate.

Cross Country Carnival Our annual Mary Mac cross country carnival for Year 3-6 students takes place on Thursday 15 June from 9.30 am to lunchtime in the park across the road from the school. Mr Boyce will send all the relevant details home and as usual, our parents and grandparents are most welcome to come along and cheer on our runners. I’m sure Mr Boyce will also need some parent help on the day, so please let him know if you can assist.

Interschool Winter Carnival Another highlight of the year for the Year 6 students is this carnival where we compete against other Catholic schools in netball, football and soccer. As you know, our students take soccer very seriously here, and now they finally get the chance to showcase their talents. Our netballers are also very strong, mainly thanks to the efforts of their coaches who run our four after-school teams. The carnival takes place on Thursday 22 June and once again, Mr Boyce will be sending home all the necessary details. I’m sure all of our students will compete to the best of their abilities in the right spirit of good sportsmanship.

Long Service Leave Mrs Liebregts will be taking some very well-deserved leave and will be travelling to Europe during the last two weeks of this term and the first week of next term. I’m sure she will have an amazing time there as that part of the world is so beautiful. Safe travels Lisa!

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
