From the Principal – Term 2, Week 9

Jun 20, 2023

Dear Parents and Caregivers

As we come to the end of another term, it is worthwhile reflecting upon the journey we have travelled so far this year. Whilst the severity of Covid has passed, we are still feeling its impact with some people still catching it. Like all industries, we are also having difficulty finding relief staff when our own members are away. On many occasions this semester, the Assistant Principals, Lisa Liebregts and Tim Maxwell have had to jump into the classrooms and teach, otherwise there wouldn’t have been anybody covering that day. This has meant that they have had to put their own jobs on hold and play catch ups later, adding to the big workload they already have. We don’t often acknowledge our Assistant Principals and the huge amount of work they do behind the scenes, but when you see them next, please show them your gratitude as I know I couldn’t do my job without them.

Awareness/Compassion Reflection We can’t heal the world today, but we can begin with a voice of compassion, a heart of love and an act of kindness.

Interschool Winter Carnival We wish all our Year 6 students the best of luck as they represent our school on Thursday 22 June at the annual Winter Carnival. They will be competing against seven other Catholic schools and I know that they will compete with the right spirit showing good sportsmanship whilst having fun. All parents and grandparents are most welcome to come along and cheer for our competitors. Mr Boyce has already sent home all the details.

Reports The mid year reports are being finalised this week and will be available from next Monday 26 June from 4pm. I have read them all and I am very proud of all our students, and I would also like to thank our teachers for their hard work putting them together. Writing class sets of reports takes a huge amount of time and this is mostly done in teachers’ own time, in the evenings and on weekends.

Dates Please note that the final day for students is next Thursday 29 June. The staff will be participating in a faith based retreat on Friday 30 June. Term 3 commences for all students and staff on Monday 17 July. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday period. I hope you get the chance to unwind and recharge your batteries. Thank you for your ongoing support of our beautiful community.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
