From the Principal – Term 2, Week 11

Jun 26, 2024

Dear Parents and Caregivers

We have finally reached the end of a long a challenging term and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to a well deserved holiday. Please note that the final day this term for students is on Thursday 27 June. The staff will be attending a professional development day at St Brigid’s in Middle Swan on Friday 28 June as we continue our Berry St Education Model journey on trauma informed practice. Please note that school resumes next term on Monday 15 July for staff and students.

Empathy Reflection John 8:7 He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.

Kindergarten 2025 Places are filling fast and we only have a few vacancies left. We are still getting sibling enrolments for next year which really need to be finalised as soon as possible. Please let the front office know if you have not enrolled a younger sibling as we would hate for them to miss out!

Staffing Update Miss Kali Koncurat will finish her time here at Mary MacKillop at the end of this term and Miss Thi Thi Tran will take over from the start of next term. I take this opportunity to wish Kali all the very best with her future endeavours and I’m sure you will join me in welcoming Thi Thi into our beautiful community.

Code of Conduct Reminder All parents are reminded that everyone in our community is required to follow the CEWA Code of Conduct which is in place to protect us and make our school a safe and welcoming place for all. Unfortunately, when this code is not adhered to, conflicts can arise, leading to people feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. Please remember to always treat everyone with courtesy and respect at all times. You are reminded that you should never approach another parent’s child if you are unhappy with something. Only staff members can do this. Also, please be very mindful of inappropriate conversations about other members of our community. The Code of Conduct is on the school’s website for you to read in full at any time. I will place segments of it in the newsletter each fortnight as a reminder. It is in everyone’s best interests that the Code is always adhered to.

Conduct Statement 12:  You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and wellbeing.

Yours sincerely

Laurie Bechelli
