Dear Parents and Caregivers

We are getting to the business end of the year and the teachers are busy writing their reports. I will spend the next couple of weeks reading them which is always a rewarding task as I get to see how well everyone has done this year. As well as reports, the teachers and the leadership team will be undertaking the enormous task of mixing the classes for next year. We use a very good software product to make sure we get it as accurate as possible. There are many factors that go into getting the balance right and once it is complete, the students will get the chance to meet their new classmates for next year in the final week of the year. Occasionally, after the transition day, we get calls from parents requesting that we move their child. Please note that once it is set, we don’t move any children as one small move can completely throw the rest of the class out of balance. In the coming weeks, all students will be asked to name five of their friends who they would like to be with next year. We guarantee that every student will get at least one of their selections. Most students get more than one of their choices. A big part of our Cooperative Learning philosophy is we like the students to learn the vital social skills of making new friends and working with different people. This is an extremely important life skill they will need as they grow older.

Reflection We have much for which to be thankful. Mary MacKillop 1873

Interschool Summer Carnival This carnival is for our Year 5 students who are now preparing to become our senior leaders. It will take place on Friday 15 November and Mr Boyce will send home all the details.

Annual Community Meeting On Monday 18 November at 5.15pm in the hall, we will be holding our annual meeting for the School Advisory Council and the P&F. Please note that this is purely a reporting meeting and not an opportunity to have open discussions regarding any issues which may be the current topic of interest. The School Advisory Council will report on the highlights of the year as well as the school’s financial status. The School Advisory Council is retaining all of its members into next year, thus there is no need for an election. The P&F will also report on their achievements of the year as well as their financial status. Our P&F are still looking for new members so please let me know if you are interested in joining our small but productive team whose main focus is community building along with a little bit of fundraising. Most years, the staff outnumber the parents at this meeting. I’m hoping to see as many of you as possible on 18 November!

Kindergarten 2025 Induction As we are preparing to farewell our graduating class of Year 6 students, we are also in the process of welcoming in our next intake of Kindergarten students at the induction which will be held on Tuesday 19 November in the Kindergarten. The induction for existing families runs from 9.00am until 9.45am. Then, the second session is for our new families, and it runs from 10.00am until 10.45am. Our Kindergarten is completely full for 2025 and all new enquiries are now on the waiting list.

Awards Ceremony This will take place on Wednesday 20 November in the hall from 8.45am. Whilst not all students will win an award, it is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students who have shone this year.

Yours sincerely

Laurie Bechelli
Principal
