Dear Parents and Caregivers

As we settle into Term 2, it’s wonderful to see our students embracing the many opportunities that come with this time of year. From spiritual preparation to sporting events, there is a great sense of energy and community spirit around our school. We are also pleased to welcome back Mr Bechelli next week from his overseas holiday. It will be great to have him back leading our school, full of new experiences and stories to share and ready for what continues to be an exciting and busy remainder of the term!

First Eucharist – Parent Meeting

We remind all families of students preparing for the Sacrament of First Eucharist that there will be a Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, 14 May at 7:00pm in the Church. This meeting is an important step in supporting your child on their faith journey, and we encourage at least one parent or caregiver to attend. Last week, our students participated in a reflective and engaging school-based retreat as part of their preparation for First Eucharist. It was a meaningful day where they explored the importance of the Eucharist through prayer, discussion, and creative activities. We were especially touched to receive feedback from a parent who shared: “I am so thoroughly impressed with all that was taught to the kids. My daughter came home explaining everything so beautifully—she is so excited for her First Holy Communion and has an even better understanding of it now.”

Moments such as the above capture and beautifully emphasise the importance of faith experiences in a child’s spiritual journey. Additionally, this weekend, we warmly invite families to attend the Eucharistic Commitment Masses, where our candidates will be formally welcomed by the parish community. Your presence and encouragement, as the primary spiritual role models for your children, will help make this occasion even more meaningful and memorable for them.

Year 6 Winter Carnival – Monday, 19 May

Excitement is building for the much anticipated Year 6 Winter Carnival, which will take place on Monday, 19 May at Wanneroo Kingsway Reserve. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to participate in a variety of team sports, demonstrate their school spirit, and enjoy a fun day of healthy competition with peers from other schools.

Numeracy Project Early Years

This year, our school is proud to be working in partnership with CEWA personnel to engage in ongoing professional learning aimed at deepening teachers’ understanding of best practices in mathematics education. This collaborative initiative is focused on enhancing the quality of maths teaching by promoting strategies that foster creativity, engagement, and critical thinking in the classroom. The ultimate goal is to support our students in developing their ability to reason, justify, and clearly articulate their thinking during mathematics lessons. As part of this initiative, our school will be hosting educators from across the metropolitan area to share insights, collaborate, and develop innovative approaches to teaching mathematics. Our Emu Teacher, Mrs Marina Thompson along with members of our leadership team and our K-2 early years teachers form part of this exciting and innovative project. We will provide updates for you regarding this exciting school initiative in the near future.

The weeks ahead promise a variety of rich learning experiences and community events. We look forward to sharing these moments with you.
