Dear Parents and Caregivers

This week is a very significant time in the 35 year history of our school as it is Fr John’s final week before moving into retirement. Today, we held a very special whole school Mass and morning tea where past staff members, family members and parishioners joined us to celebrate Fr John’s achievements. It is very rare that a priest gets to stay so long in one community. Usually, they are moved every six years, so this is something unique for us. This Saturday night will officially be Fr John’s last weekend as our parish priest and Fr Vinh Dong will be installed by Bishop Don Sproxton as our new spiritual guide. Therefore, I strongly urge all families to come along to the 6pm Mass and support both Fr John and Fr Vinh. On behalf of the whole community, I would like to wish Fr John a wonderful retirement (even though he will still be living on site in one of the units near the Church) and at the same time, extend a very big welcome to Fr Vinh. Please do come along for this very special evening.

Kindergarten 2026 I have already started interviewing for 2026 and the interest so far is very strong. Again, if you have a child coming next year, you need to let the office know immediately. Please do not leave it to the last minute. Both classes were filled this year, and it is looking likely that both will fill next year too. I sincerely would not like to see one of our siblings miss out!

Scripture Reflection John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Long Weekend This coming weekend is the Western Australia Day long weekend for all of us and the school will be closed on Monday 2 June. I hope you get to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones.

Mary Mac Cross Country Carnival This will be held on Monday 9 June for all students, both on our oval and across the road in the park. Mr Boyce has already prepared most of the details and these will be sent home. As usual, parents and grandparents are most welcome to come along and support our long distance runners. The interschool squad will be selected from the placegetters in Years 3 to 6.

Year 6 Camp Without doubt, this is always the biggest highlight of the year for our senior students. We will be going to the Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in Hillarys from Wednesday 11 June to Friday 13 June. As usual, we have organised an action packed programme which includes archery, ropes activities, abseiling, caving, orienteering and lots of team building games. I’m sure it will be another successful Mary Mac camp.
