Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope the school holidays provided you with a chance to rest, recharge and enjoy quality time with your children. The term break is always a valuable opportunity to pause from the busyness of routine and truly reconnect with family. These shared moments, whether big or small, help strengthen the bond between parent and child and support our children to grow in confidence and wellbeing. Term 3 is always a vibrant and busy time in our school community, and we are excited for the term ahead.
P&F Meeting – Monday 28 July
Our first P&F meeting for the term will be held on Monday 28 July at 8:45am in the staffroom, and all parents are warmly invited to attend. Our P&F executive work tirelessly to support and strengthen our school community, and your presence is a wonderful way to support them. As we often say, our focus is on friend-raising rather than fundraising—it’s all about connection.
Edu Dance Returns
It’s that time again! Our popular Edu Dance program returns in Term 3, with both Kindergarten classes and all Gold classes from Pre-Primary to Year 6 participating. Please save the date for our Edu Dance Concert on Monday 22 September at 6:00pm in the school hall which promises to be another fantastic evening, showcasing our students’ energy and creativity.
Interschool Cross Country – Tuesday 29 July
Selected students from Years 3 to 6 will represent our school at the Interschool Cross Country event at UWA Sports Park from 10:00am to 1:30pm. Mr Boyce will be sending home all the relevant details shortly. Please note that all race times are approximate—allow plenty of time so you don’t miss your child’s race. As with all carnivals, flexibility is key. We want our students to shine, not just with their skills, but with great sportsmanship — cheering each other on, showing kindness, and celebrating everyone’s efforts.
Mary MacKillop Week
In August, we proudly celebrate Mary MacKillop Week in honour of our patron saint. Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint, opened the first Catholic school in Penola, South Australia, to provide education to children in remote areas. Her vision and commitment laid the foundations for Catholic education in our country.
To celebrate her legacy:
- We will hold a whole school Mass on Wednesday 6 August at 8:45am in our church. Parents and grandparents are warmly invited. This will be followed by a special Morning Tea for adults from 10:00am to 11:30am, with time for classroom visits as well. Students will enjoy a sweet treat with cupcakes offered at recess.
- On Friday 8 August, our Year 6 students will lead our Mission Fete, raising funds for the Josephite Sisters, continuing Mary’s work by supporting educational opportunities for children in under-resourced communities.
Confirmation Parent Information Evening
We are trialling a new format for our Confirmation Parent Information Session, which will be held in the Music Room on Wednesday 6 August at 5:30pm. The session will run for approximately 45 minutes and will cover all the key information and details for the upcoming Sacrament. We strongly encourage all parents of our Year 6 students to attend and support their child on this important faith journey.
CEWA Religious Education Assessments
Our Year 3 and Year 5 students will participate in the CEWA Religious Education online assessments on Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 August. These annual assessments help gauge students’ understanding of key religious concepts and support teaching and learning across the system.
