Dear Parents and Caregivers
Last weekend, many of our Year 6 students received the final Sacrament of Initiation at one of the beautiful Confirmation Masses in our Church. This was a very special time for them as they are now considered as adults in the Catholic Church. When most of them were baptised, their parents made the decision for them. However, this time, it was their choice to be confirmed. I would like to thank the Year 6 teachers, Sara Blair and Natasha Strecker, along with all the other staff members who contributed in any way towards making this Mass such an important milestone in our students’ lives.
Scripture Reflection Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things, there is no law.”
Father’s Day This Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day, where we give thanks for our amazing fathers, grandfathers and special men in our lives. As usual, the P&F will once again be holding their stalls so that all students will have the opportunity to buy something small for their favourite men. The stalls will run on 3, 4 and 5 September in the classrooms. This year, we thought we would try something different and invite all dads to come into the classrooms from 2pm and participate in an activity with their children. As a bonus, all dads who turn up will receive a donut! All the students throughout the whole school won’t be left out and they will get a donut too.
Spelling Bee This year, we will be hosting the interschool Spelling Bee competition on Tuesday 16 September from 9am to 11am. It will be held in the hall and the library and competitors from six other schools will be participating. Details will be sent home to the parents of our students who will be representing Mary Mac.
Edu Dance Concert Please make sure that you are free on Monday 22 September as the dancing extravaganza will take place in the hall from 6pm for all the Gold classes from Pre Primary to Year 6. As usual, all students will need to meet in their classrooms from 5.45pm in their costumes. Please note that the Kindy classes do it a bit differently. Instead of doing a concert item, parents are invited to come along and watch them in action during a class. Therefore, on the same day, Kindy Gold will be in action from 1.35pm and Kindy Blue are on at 2.05pm. Both classes will take place in the hall. Parents and grandparents are most welcome to come along and watch. It promises to be another wonderful event.
3 Week Holiday From 2027 I’m giving you plenty of advanced notice with this one! Please note that from 2027 (not next year), all CEWA schools will be having a 3 week break between Terms 2 and 3. As more details become available over the next year or so, I will pass them onto you. For now, you don’t need to do anything other than being aware of this change.
