Dear Parents and Caregivers
We are getting towards the end of Term 1 already, which means that Easter is just around the corner. Have you ever wondered why priests wear purple during Lent? Purple is the colour of penance, which signifies a time of reflection and prayer. It also is the rarest colour which occurs naturally in the environment. When you think about it, not many flowers are purple. In the times of old, it was very difficult to get anything purple, and therefore, it was only worn by kings and very important people. As Jesus is our king, it is fitting that you see priests wearing purple during this special time. Please remember to support Fr Vinh this Easter by attending one of the many Easter Masses and activities in our parish, starting with Palm Sunday on 29 March. We then have Holy Week which ends with the Saturday night vigil on 4 April. Please remember that Easter Sunday is the most important date on the Christian calendar.

Kindergarten 2027 I have already started the enrolment process for next year’s intake. If you have a younger child who is coming here next year, please contact the front office immediately.
New Playground As you are already aware, we have a beautiful new playground at the front of the school which has replaced the old boat which became unsafe to play on. At the last state election, our local member, Rita Saffioti, made a commitment to us that if she won, she would give us $42 000 towards the cost of this playground. Rita will be coming to our school assembly on Friday 27 March to have a look at our investment. It is also a wonderful opportunity for us to say a big thank you to her and the State Government.
Edu Dance Concert I’m really looking forward to seeing what our amazing student dancers will do at the concert on Monday 30 March. The concert will be held in the hall from 6.00pm for all Blue classes from PP to Year 6. Please make sure your children are in their classrooms from 5.45pm in their costumes, ready to go.
Passion Liturgy The final week of this term is in Holy Week. As is tradition at Mary Mac, we will be holding a liturgy in the Church on Tuesday 31 March from 8.45am which focuses on the passion of Jesus. This is a very reverent and reflective time where we focus on the events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Please remember that Jesus is a loving God who also suffers with us. We see this in the rejection by his disciples as well as the crucifixion. However, as he rose from the dead, it is a powerful message to all of us indicating that the same thing will happen to us too one day. It is so comforting to know we have a God who stands in solidarity with us!
Dates Please note that Term 1 ends on Thursday 2 April (which is Holy Thursday) and Term 2 commences on Monday 20 April. Easter Sunday is on 5 April.
