Dear Parents and Caregivers
We have only been back at school for a couple of weeks and it is already getting very busy. Term 2 is a big one for our Year 4 students as they are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion. As I have said before, the word ‘Communion’ contains the word ‘union’ inside it which tells you that it is all about our relationship and connection to God. The word ‘community’ also has the same base as well as the word ‘unity’ within it. It’s obvious we are one in God as a community in everything we do. The Parent Information Night for the Year 4 candidates will be held on Thursday 7 May at 5.30pm in the hall and it will be run by Mario Borg from 24/7 Youth Ministry. All Year 4 parents and students are invited. This will then be followed up with their commitment Masses on the weekend of 16 and 17 May. Please keep all of our First Holy Communion candidates and their families in your prayers.
Scripture Reflection John 6:51 “I am the living bread that came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever, and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
Mother’s Day This is one of the most important days of the whole year as we all know how important our mothers and grandmothers are. This year, we will be doing it a little bit differently, as we will be holding a special assembly rather than a Mass. All mothers and grandmothers are invited to attend our assembly on Friday 8 May at 8.45am in the hall. This will be followed by high tea in the staffroom as well as visits to all classrooms straight after the assembly. As usual, our wonderful P&F will be running their Mother’s Day stalls so all students have the opportunity to buy a small gift for their mothers. More information has already been sent out with all the details.
Whole School Mass Our first Mass for the term will be held on Thursday 14 May at 9.00am in the Church. It will be led by the Year 5 classes and everyone is welcome to join us. We will be returning to our usual timeslot of Thursday mornings so we can join the parish in prayer.
Cross Country Carnival We will be holding our own carnival on Monday 18 May on the oval for the junior classes and in the park across the road for the middle and upper primary classes. Miss Thorp has already sent home the details. As is usual practice with carnivals, we can only give approximate times for the races as there are so many variables. Therefore, please allow plenty of time either side of the suggested times if you are coming to watch your children compete. Thanks for your understanding.
Storytelling Night As a part of our annual Bookweek celebrations, we are once again holding a Storytelling Night on Wednesday 20 May from 5.30pm. We have a number of storytellers coming so it should be a lot of fun. Keep an eye out for the details which have already been sent home. Please make sure you complete the attached form so we know how many students will be attending.
Kindergarten 2027 I am well into the enrolment process for next year’s intake. If you have a younger child who is coming here next year, please contact the front office immediately. Our playgroup has made a very positive start and we have already enrolled 18 students and parents which is wonderful. Mrs Dalglish and Mrs Zdraveski are doing a great job running our playgroup and it is a joy to see so many happy children and parents enjoying each other’s company. Please remember that all children attending the playgroup must be always accompanied by a parent.
