Dear Parents and Caregivers
I hope to see a bumper crowd at tonight’s storytelling event. I know the staff have put a lot of effort into this wonderful opportunity as we have at least seven different storytellers coming to share their incredible stories with our students. All details have already been sent home, so please make sure you come along tonight and join in the fun!
Scripture Reflection Mark 14: 22-24 “While they were eating, He took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them and said, ‘Take it, this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, gave thanks and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, ‘This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.”
First Holy Communion Student Retreat The Year 4 parents and students have already met Mario Borg from 24/7 Youth Ministry and he gave a wonderful presentation at the parent information night. He will now come back with his team of young people and they will lead our students through a day of reflection and preparation on Thursday 21 May in the hall. These retreats are always a special occasion for our students as they help prepare them to receive the sacraments. Please keep our Year 4 students and their families in your prayers during this special time. The First Holy Communion Masses will be held on Saturday 6 June at 6pm and Sunday 7 June at 9.30am in our Church.
Camp I know the Year 6 students are getting very excited about their camp as I’m getting lots of questions from nervous students every day! The camp will be held at the Ern Halliday Recreation Campsite in Hillarys from Wednesday 27 May to Friday 29 May. We have been going there for a long time, and in my opinion, it’s the best campsite around. The students always have an amazing time, even if they come home exhausted. The camp is an opportunity for the students to build their teamwork and leadership skills and push themselves outside of their comfort zone with challenging activities whilst making better connections with their peers. Lots of schools no longer do camps, so our students are very fortunate that we have staff members who are willing to give up their own time so generously.
Long Weekend and Student Free Day Yes, we deliberately plan the camp to coincide with the WA Day long weekend to give everyone extra time to recover. This year, we have added a staff professional development day onto it as this is an eleven week term and we thought everyone needed a mid term break. Please note that the public holiday is on Monday 1 June and the staff development day is on Tuesday 2 June. The school will be closed on both days. The students will resume in Week 7 on Wednesday 3 June.
Kindergarten 2027 I am well into the enrolment process for next year’s intake. If you have a younger child who is coming here next year, please contact the front office immediately. Our playgroup has made a very positive start and we have already enrolled 18 students which is wonderful. Mrs Dalglish and Mrs Zdraveski are doing a great job running our playgroup and it is a joy to see so many happy children and parents enjoying each other’s company. Please remember that all children attending the playgroup must be always accompanied by a parent or grandparent.
