Dear Parents and Caregivers
We have just come out of Mary MacKillop Week and are now about to head straight into Book Week. The theme for this year is ‘Symphony of Stories’. I still think the secret to most students’ success with their learning comes from reading. The more they read, the better. If they are too young to read, then the more you read to them, the better! (I must admit that I am finding it such a joy to read to my eight month old grandson). As long as they are reading books, you can’t go wrong. As a little boy, the only thing I liked reading was the Guinness Book of World Records, but at least I was reading something. I strongly urge all parents to encourage your children to read as many books as they can. It doesn’t really matter what they read, as long as they develop a love for it!

Performing Arts Festival Our choir have been very busy preparing for the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival which will be held on Thursday 27 August at the Vasto Club in Balcatta. We are scheduled to perform between 11.30am and 12.30pm. I would like to thank Miss Talicia Fazio and the other staff members who have put in so much time preparing our students for this wonderful event. A note has been sent home with all the details. Parents are welcome to come along, however, please be aware there is a small entry fee.
Book Week Parade This annual event will be held in our hall on Friday 28 August from 8.35am. Parents are asked not to spend any money on fancy costumes as it is not a competition. Rather, try spending some quality time with your children creating something based on their favourite book characters. It is purely for fun only and to encourage a love for reading.
Confirmation The Confirmation Masses will be held in our Church next weekend on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August. This is a very exciting time for our Year 6 students as they will complete full initiation into the Church. Please keep them in your prayers.
P&F Father’s Day Stalls It is nearly that special time of year again, where our students get the opportunity to buy a small gift for their dads or the special man in their lives. The P&F will send out all the details and all students will be given a couple of opportunities to purchase something. As usual, these stalls will be run from the classrooms. Dads, please don’t forget to come into the classrooms to spend some time with your children from 2.00pm on Friday 4 September. You may even be rewarded with a donut!! I would like to say a big thank you once again to the members of our P&F for supporting our dads with such thoughtful activities like these.
Pilgrimage Please note that I will be away for the last two weeks of this term as I am going on a pilgrimage to Italy and France. CEWA have appointed Mrs Lisa Liebregts as the Short Term Principal in my absence. I will be back for the start of next term.
Kindergarten 2027 I am well into the enrolment process for next year’s intake. If you have a younger child who is coming here next year, please contact the front office immediately.
