From the Principal – Term 3, Week 9

Sep 16, 2020

Dear Parents

Once again, I would like to thank the P&F for putting on such a wonderful movie night for our students last Friday. As usual, it was a fun night and the P&F did a great job organising it. We were also very blessed to be able to hold it as it was yet another event which was postponed due to COVID-19. Bit by bit, we are catching up on all the things we had to delay. The Year 6 students finally got to camp this week and I had the great pleasure of being with them the whole time. It has been a very full on but fun time. I’m sure the Year 6 students will cherish their memories from this camp. They will also finally get confirmed on 17 and 18 October in our Church. That will be at the end of Week 1 next term.

OSHClub Please remember that the OSHClub opens its doors at Mary Mac on Monday 12 October where they are offering a full day of care as it is a student free day. Please make sure you support this new service as I am sure it will benefit many of our families over time. If you are planning to use the OSHClub, please make sure you enrol your children as soon as possible. All the details are on our website if you need them.

Holiday Works As usual, there will be work happening at school during the holidays. The main project these holidays will be the remarking of all the lines in the three car parks. As well as this, the main car park at the front of the school will have modifications made to it including the addition of speed bumps, new signage, new disabled bays and an extended cross walk. Earlier in the year, the school engaged the services of a traffic management consultant to help us with the safety and flow of traffic at peak times. I am hoping that these changes in conjunction with the staggered end of day will make our congestion issues considerably better. Again, I urge parents to pick up the older children at 3.15pm as the car parks are empty by that time and teachers are still on duty. It is the single best thing you can do to help ease the situation.

Term Dates Term 3 concludes on Thursday 24 September at 3pm for all students as we are taking our Catholic Day on Friday 25 September. Term 4 will commence for students on Tuesday 13 October as the staff are having a faith formation day on Monday 12 October.

Board/P&F Meetings The final meetings for the term will be held next Monday 21 September at 8.45am for the P&F and 6pm for the Board.

Long Service Leave Originally, I was meant to be taking the last two weeks of this term as long service leave and I was heading off to Russia and Croatia for a month. Unfortunately, COVID-19 ruined those plans and I am now at camp with the Year 6 students and heading down South next week instead (although I am very happy to be at camp with our students). As I will be away for the last week of term, please see Mrs Liebregts or Mrs Tucker in my absence. I wish you a restful and peaceful break with your children and I look forward to seeing you next term.

Yours sincerely

Laurie Bechelli
