Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome back to the final term of the year. I can’t believe that we are at this point already! Have you ever noticed how long our school’s name is? Not many Catholic schools include the word “Community” in their name. Have you ever wondered why we have it there? The word “Community” is actually really important. The “com” is a Latin prefix that means “together” or “with”. It combines with the Latin word “manus” which means “gift” or “service” to create the Latin phrase “communitas” which literally translates as “to give among each other”. Now ask yourself what the meaning of “Communion” is, and maybe think about it the next time you go to Holy Communion. You will see they are closely linked, and now you know why our name is so long!

Faction Carnival This Friday 17 October, we will be holding one of our major events for the year on the school oval. I know Mr Boyce has done a lot of work preparing for our annual faction carnival and I’m sure it will be a huge success. As the weather is forecast to be quite warm, I urge all parents to make sure that the students have their hats, sunscreen and plenty of water to drink. The Netball Club will be running a sausage sizzle and a raffle and a coffee van will be onsite too. Parents, please make sure you follow the instructions on the day regarding staying out of the student bays as it makes it very difficult for us to organise the events if students are not where they need to be. When everyone cooperates, we have better outcomes. Thank you in advance!
P&F Meeting The final meeting for the year will be held next Monday 20 October at 8.45am in the staffroom. I would like to express my gratitude to our wonderful P&F for their efforts organising the Colour Run at the end of last term. From what I saw, it was an outstanding success and everyone had a lot of fun. Please note that the P&F are no longer doing the coloured hair at our faction carnival. The students are still allowed to get their hair coloured, however, this must be done at home before the carnival on Friday morning.
Disco Our P&F certainly are very busy at the moment and they are coordinating our annual disco with a group of amazing parent helpers. The disco will be held on Friday 24 October in our hall. The times are 5.30pm to 7.30pm for all students. As usual, the Year 6 students will get an extra 45 minutes from 7.45pm to 8.30pm. I would like to thank everyone involved in advance as I know you always do a fantastic job for our students. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Whole School Mass Our first Mass for the term will be held on Thursday 30 October at 8.45am in the Church. The focus of the Mass will be All Souls and All Saints days. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us.
