Science Week 2025
This year’s Science Week theme was “Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language” … and explore we did!!! The students had lots of hands on fun with Danni from Einsteins Australia as they explored our Universe.
The Kindy – Year 1 classes focused on ‘Earth and Space our World in Orbit’ and puzzled their way to find the Earth and sorted animals to find their home across land and sea. They also make a rocket craft to fly to their planet.
The Year 2- 6 classes focused on “What is Quantum Physics”. They studied the many examples in the universe of the numerical patterns known as the Fibonacci Sequence. They made their own clay disk representing the Fibonacci Sequence as well as a beaded representation of our spiralling Solar System.
As usual competitions were held over the couple of weeks leading up to our celebration week. A big thank you to the many students who entered our competitions.
The winners of the ‘Who’s Footprint Competition’ in the juniors were Jasmine Fraser (PPB) and Ryan Tran(2B).
The winners of the ‘Mary Mac Biomimicry Competition’ were by Darcy Lam(3B) and Emily Imms(6G).
We all hope that you all had fun and are inspired to look for the numerous examples of spiralling patterns in nature.

Canteen News
The new Semester 2 CANTEEN MENU for 2025 is available on the MMCCPS website or alternatively if you require a hard copy, at the office or canteen. Please refer to this new menu ONLY, as many changes have taken place.
The canteen operates on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. To alleviate using money, Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Primary School has an online ordering system for canteen orders. All Online food must be ordered by 8.30 am. This enables a more efficient and effective service available to you and your family. You can visit quickcliq.com.au to register.
All lunch/recess orders must be placed in classroom baskets before the class commences. They will then be taken to the canteen. If your child is late, they are to take the lunch order directly to the canteen.
All prepaid drink orders from Years 1-6 are to be collected by your child at the canteen with their lunch order bags as proof of purchase.
Ice creams are then sold after the students are dismissed from eating their lunch. If ice creams are pre ordered, the bag must be shown at the canteen when picking up the ice cream.
Please note, your child can purchase a drink or ice cream without pre ordering if they have money.
Parents, please do not allow your children to buy ice creams for their friends and large amounts of money should not be given to them. Thank you for your co operation in this matter.
If you wish to volunteer in the canteen please come and see me. We would like parents who have some spare time to come and help in the canteen and be a volunteer! It’s so rewarding for parents to see their children at school helping us.
