Dear Parents and Caregivers

This Sunday, we celebrate Mother’s Day (which many would argue should be every day!!). We always treat this as a special day in our community as we come together to say a huge thank you to our amazing mothers for everything they do for us.  All mothers and grandmothers are invited to join us this Friday 12 May in our Church from 8.45 am. Morning tea will be provided after Mass in the Church hall.

Awareness/Compassion Reflection Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity could not survive. Dalai Lama

Curtin Speech Programme I received a call from Curtin University last week, asking if we could accommodate an extra group of their students as another school suddenly became unavailable. I was happy to accommodate them which means for this term, we will have one group working in Kindy Gold on Wednesdays and another group working in Pre-Primary Blue on Thursdays which will be a nice bonus for us.

First Holy Communion This is a very special time for our Year 4 students as we are getting closer to the time when they receive Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. We have the parent information session on Wednesday 10 May commencing Mass in our parish from 7.00 pm. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. All families are asked to attend any Mass this weekend 13 and 14 May in our parish so the students can make their commitment to the programme. Our students will then participate in a retreat on Tuesday 16 May which will be held in our hall. This will help them focus on the importance of what receiving Holy Communion means. Finally, our students will receive the Sacrament on the weekend of Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May. Please keep our students in your prayers during this exciting time.

SciTech I would like to say a huge thank you to our P&F for organising what promises to be a fantastic night for our community. I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday 19 May from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm at SciTech. It is such a great venue which is both educational and fun. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for our families to spend time together socialising in a relaxed way.

Staffing News In a rare timing coincidence, we have three lovely ladies leaving us this Friday 12 May so they can go and prepare for the impending birth of their children. Mrs Chloe Phiri, Mrs Tina Zdraveski and Mrs Kaushalya Raghwani will be having their babies in the coming weeks, so please join me in wishing them every happiness and blessing for the safe arrival of their children. Miss Evie Truong will be replacing Mrs Phiri in Year 5, Miss Tara Lynch will be replacing Mrs Zdraveski in Kindy Blue and we are still looking for a replacement for Mrs Raghwani to support Mrs Mueller in the Wellness Centre. It will be a very exciting time for these three new mothers.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
