From the Principal – Term 2, Week 9

Jun 16, 2021

 Dear Parents

As a part of our school improvement plan, the staff have undertaken some community service activities to help support our gratitude focus. Last Friday night, Sonja and Lee Robertson, along with Dee Wright accompanied Fr Mark into the city to feed some of the homeless people there. I did it a few weeks earlier and it was an incredible eye opening experience. Over the coming weeks and months, a number of the staff will also go out with Fr Mark. In the staffroom, we have a trolley which is filled with donations from our staff members, which gets pulled along through the city streets. Fr Mark has one as well which has food, clothing and personal items, all of which are given to the people he sees. It really makes you appreciate how good our lives actually are and that when we get upset over minor things, we need to think of these people whose issues are significantly worse than ours. Many of them once had lives similar to ours, but unfortunately, something went wrong, and they became homeless. Please keep the many hundreds of homeless people in Perth (we even have some here in Ballajura) in your prayers and hope that things can turn around for them so they can lead happier lives

Gratitude Reflection I would rather be able to appreciate things I cannot have than to have things I am not able to appreciate. Elbert Hubbard

Term 3 PD Date Change Unfortunately, due to our presenters being unavailable, we have had to change the date for the staff professional development day, which was originally planned for Monday 19 July, the first day of Term 3. The new date has been set for Friday 13 August which is at the end of Week 4. We will be having a day looking at our Literacy focus and how it aligns with the Catholic Ed Vision for Learning document. Please accept my apologies.

Reports The reports will go live on Monday 28 June. It usually happens around 3.30pm and we will endeavour to get them to you on time. Please remember to make a time to meet with your children’s teachers during that week if you have any questions about the reports.

Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
