Dear Parents
I would like to say a huge well done and thank you to all our students, staff and parents for your wonderful participation at our concert night last week. The Spirit of Jesus is certainly alive in our community. It was a wonderful way to end the year. Today, your children found out who their teachers will be for next year. It is our practice to mix the classes each year so the students get a greater opportunity to expand their friendship circles and to also learn social skills from a wider base. The whole list of staffing for 2022 is attached to this final newsletter.

Holiday Works Once again, there will be a significant amount of work taking place at Mary Mac over the coming holidays. The Science room will be transferred to the current Year 6 Orange room which will be fitted out with new flooring and a coat of paint. This means that Art and Science will be side by side near the computer lab. The Science room is being relocated to allow for a significant refurbishment of the Pre Primary classrooms. Just like the Kindergarten rooms, we now have the luxury of spreading two classes over three rooms. Walls will be removed and seven new sliding doors and windows will be added to make these rooms into something special which will allow our students to engage in more indoor and outdoor play, investigations and inquiry based learning activities. They will also get a brand new kitchen and an extra toilet block. The Kindergarten and Pre Primary play area will also get a nature based shipwreck installed which should be an amazing resource. Half of the funding for the shipwreck will be coming from the P&F so please do thank them when you see them around the school. Our P&F do so much for our community and for this, we are truly grateful.
On top of this, the Library, Music room and Year 6 classrooms will all get new Colorbond rooves. The Year 1 and 2 classrooms, and the Wellness and Reading Recovery rooms will all be getting new carpets. As long as we don’t have any delays with getting products, we should be ready for the start of the new year. Once again, this is a very exciting time for our school and I would like to thank the School Advisory Council, Sue Haynes, Lisa Liebregts and Jacki Tucker for their input with this project. As Albert Ferraloro said at the Christmas concert, our school is in a very strong position financially, which allows us to do all these things to make us student centred and Christ centred in a beautiful setting.
Farewells As usual at this time of the year, we say farewell to our Year 6 students and a few other families. Mrs Bonny will be working at Padbury Catholic Primary School next year and Mrs Gethin and Mrs Cooper will also be taking 12 months leave. Mrs Suckling and Mrs Day will finish their time in the St Joseph Centre and I take this opportunity wish them all the very best for the future. I’m sure we will see some of these teachers again some day. I hope you will always look back at your time here with fond memories.
Dates 2022 School resumes for all students on Monday 31 January, even though the office will open the week earlier. I take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and prosperous Christmas and new year. I’m not sure what next year will look like once our borders open up. However, we will be here doing the very best we can in what are likely to be challenging times.
Yours sincerely
Laurie Bechelli
