Dear Parents and Caregivers

As we are getting closer to Easter, it is a good time to think about the core teachings of Jesus’ ministry, which were forgiveness and healing. It is through forgiveness that we find healing. Sadly, we live in a broken world where there is so much unhappiness and war as a result of people wanting retribution. Just watch the news every night to see for yourselves! Perhaps the last words Jesus uttered were his most important, “Forgive them Father for they don’t know what they are doing.” Where can you find forgiveness in your lives this Easter? Imagine if everyone around the world practised forgiveness on a daily basis. Surely, it would make the world a better place to be!

Empathy Reflection If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.

Scitech Evening We have had a very strong response to our welcome to the new school year event which will be held at Scitech this Friday 15 March from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. We currently have around 300 people attending which is wonderful. Once again, I would like to say a huge thank you to our fantastic P&F who are covering the cost of this great fun filled evening. Even though our P&F is small, they achieve big things for our community. Your support for all they do is greatly appreciated.

NAPLAN The tests started today for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. I’m sure they will do their very best in every test. Please remember that NAPLAN only provides a snapshot of your child’s achievements at one particular time and they don’t usually reflect their overall performance. The best place to get that information is from your child’s teacher who can give you much more information about their true progress. We use the NAPLAN data to identify trends across the school which helps us with our forward planning. Please remember to make an appointment with your child’s teacher over the last couple of weeks of this term if you have any questions or concerns, as all teachers are currently conducting parent/teacher interviews.

Edu Dance Our first Edu Dance concert for the year will be held on Monday 25 March in the hall for the students in the Pre Primary to Year 6 Blue classes. It starts at 6pm and I’m sure it will be another fabulous showcase of our amazing students and their dancing skills. I look forward to seeing you there. All students are required to meet in their classrooms from 5.45pm.

Whole School Mass The final Mass for the term is on Thursday 21 March at 8.45am in the Church where we will celebrate St Joseph’s feast day. All parents and grandparents are most welcome to join us.

Stations of the Cross These will also take place in our Church at 8.45am but will be held on the last day of term which is Thursday 28 March. Again, all parents and grandparents are invited to join us as we approach Holy Week and Easter.

Kindergarten 2025 I have made an early start this year and have already conducted some enrolment interviews. Places are filling fast and if you have a younger child who is due to commence next year, please let the front office staff know as a high priority as we don’t want anyone to miss out.

Code of Conduct Reminder All parents are reminded that everyone in our community is required to follow the CEWA Code of Conduct which is in place to protect us and make our school a safe and welcoming place for all. Unfortunately, when this code is not adhered to, conflicts can arise, leading to people feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. Please remember to always treat everyone with courtesy and respect at all times. The Code of Conduct is on the school’s website for you to read in full at any time. I will place segments of it in the newsletter each fortnight as a reminder. It is in everyone’s best interests that the Code is always adhered to.

Conduct Statement 5:  You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the community.

Yours sincerely

Laurie Bechelli
