Dear Parents and Caregivers
Today is Ash Wednesday, which means we are now only 40 days away from Easter. This is a very significant time in the Catholic Church as Easter Sunday is the most important date on the liturgical calendar. So much of our faith centres around the resurrection of Jesus, because we know that if he resurrected from the dead, then we will do the same when our time comes. This gives us great comfort and hope! During Lent, we are encouraged to give up something. Many of us choose to give up chocolates or something else that we like. Maybe this Lent, we could try giving up saying unkind words, getting angry at others, being selfish or something else that damages relationships. Lent is a time for reflection and penance, so please use this time wisely so that we all can become better versions of ourselves.
Scripture Reflection Psalm 51:1-2 “Have mercy on me O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion, blot out my transgressions.”
Welcome Back to School Family Fun Night I would like to say a huge thank you to the parents in Years 3 and 4 who have contributed in any way towards preparing for our annual fun night to kick off the school year. It runs from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on the oval on Friday 20 February. Please remember that this is an alcohol free event and that you must supervise your own children, especially older ones who are former students. All children must stay on the oval where we can see them, and nobody should be up by the classrooms. The adults should only use the toilets in the hall, and the students should only use their own toilets near the undercover area please. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as it will help make the night more successful.
Penance Information Session Our Sacramental parent sessions will be run differently to how they were run in the past. They will now commence at 5.30pm in the School and should be finished much earlier than before, around 6.15pm. The Year 3 Penance meeting will be held on Wednesday 25 February at 5.30pm in the Music room and the students are invited to attend with their parents. The students will also be participating in a retreat on Thursday 26 February in the hall. Please keep the Year 3 students in your prayers as they prepare to make their First Reconciliation later this term.
Swimming Trials It’s that time of year again, where we start preparing for the swimming carnival which will be held in the coming weeks. To help select the students for their races, we will be running our trials on Friday 27 February at Swan Active in Ballajura from 8.45am to 1.00pm. Miss Thorp has already sent out the information to all parents in Years 4 to 6. If any parents would like to assist on the day, please let Miss Thorp know.
Public Holiday Please note that Monday 2 March is the Labour Day holiday and the school will be closed. I’m sure everyone will appreciate the long weekend!
