Dear Parents and Caregivers
Can you believe that we are half way through the final term already? I am busy reading all the students’ reports, which so far, have been excellent. It is always wonderful seeing how well our students do. As usual, the final reports will be available online for you to access on the last Monday afternoon of the term, 8 December.
Scripture Reflection 1 Corinthians 3:9 – 11.16-17 “Didn’t you realise that you were God’s temple and that the Spirit of God was living among you? Because the temple of God is sacred; and that you are that temple.”
Annual Community Meetings It’s that time of year again, where we stop to reflect upon the achievements of the School Advisory Council and the P&F at our annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be held in the hall on Monday 17 November from 5.15pm. The meetings are very short as they are only reporting on the year’s activities. Fortunately, all members of the SAC have agreed to stay on next year, so we won’t be needing an election. However, the P&F are always looking for new members. I realise that most parents don’t come to these meetings for fear of being given a job on one of the committees. Most years, we have the whole staff there and hardly any parents. Please feel welcome to come along and listen to what has happened this year. Light refreshments will be served.
Interschool Summer Carnival The transition of our senior students has already begun as the Year 5 students have voted for next year’s Coordinators and Faction Captains. They will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in the coming weeks. As well as that, the Year 5 students will be attending their first interschool carnival on Friday 14 November at Yokine Regional Open Space and Alexander Park Tennis Club. They will be participating in Cricket, Tennis and Ultimate Frisbee. Mr Boyce has already sent home all the details and I am sure that our Year 5 students will represent our school with pride and good sportsmanship. This is a very exciting time for our Year 5 students!
Kindergarten Orientation As we are about to say farewell to our wonderful Year 6 students, it is now time to welcome in our next intake of Kindergarten students. We still have places available, so if you have a younger child you haven’t told us about, now is the time to act! Similarly, if you know anyone who is thinking of sending their child to Mary Mac, please tell them to contact the office immediately. The orientation will be held on Tuesday 18 November from 9.00am to 9.45am for existing families, and from 10.00am to 10.45am for new families.
Awards Ceremony The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 26 November in the hall, starting at 9.00am. This is always a very special day on our calendar where we get to acknowledge the achievements of some of our students who have excelled in various areas this year. We will also find out who our new Coordinators and Captains will be for 2026. They won’t be receiving their badges until early next year though, as the current Year 6 students are still wearing theirs.
