Social Worker

We have a new addition on our school therapy team, Margot the therapy dog. You may see Margot from time to time working alongside our social worker, occupational therapist or speech therapist. She is a mini-spoodle and has been trained and approved as a therapy dog through Western Australian Assistance and Therapy Dogs.

Margot is two years old and she belongs to our social worker, Lisa Mueller. She is a slightly cheeky but a very sociable little dog! Margot will be gradually introduced to our school community throughout the year when she starts with some day visits. It is hoped that Margot will be particularly helpful to students experiencing anxiety or needing emotional comfort in a counselling or small group setting.

It will be our school policy that Margot will always be on a lead with a staff member if she is outside the wellbeing or therapy rooms, and we have procedures in place for student hygiene and safety. If your child has allergies or a strong fear of dogs, please let Lisa or your teacher know so that we can take precautions.

Faction Swimming Carnival

On Monday, our Year Four to Six students gathered at Bayswater Waves for a fantastic day at the annual swimming carnival. It was a wonderful celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun in the water.

Congratulations to McDonald (Red) for taking out the overall win with an impressive 508 points, followed by McCormack (Yellow) with 394 points, O’Sullivan (Green) with 332 points, and MacKillop (Blue) with 269 points.

Students enjoyed a day filled with both competitive and novelty events, all while demonstrating great spirit and respect.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing staff and parents for their support on the day, as well as to the Mercy College students who generously volunteered their time and assistance.

Canteen News

The new Semester 1 CANTEEN MENU for 2025 is available on the MMCCPS website or alternatively if you require a hard copy, at the office or canteen. Please refer to this new menu ONLY, as many changes have taken place.

The canteen operates on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. To alleviate using money, Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Primary School has an online ordering system for canteen orders. All Online food must be ordered by 8.30 am. This enables a more efficient and effective service available to you and your family. You can visit quickcliq.com.au to register.

All lunch/recess orders must be placed in classroom baskets before the class commences. They will then be taken to the canteen. If your child is late, they are to take the lunch order directly to the canteen.

All prepaid drink orders from Years 1-6 are to be collected by your child at the canteen with their lunch order bags as proof of purchase.

Ice creams are then sold after the students are dismissed from eating their lunch. If ice creams are pre ordered, the bag must be shown at the canteen when picking up the ice cream.

Please note, your child can purchase a drink or ice cream without pre ordering if they have money.

Parents, please do not allow your children to buy ice creams for their friends and large amounts of money should not be given to them. Thank you for your co operation in this matter.

If you wish to volunteer in the canteen please come and see me. We would like parents who have some spare time to come and help in the canteen and be a volunteer! It’s so rewarding for parents to see their children at school helping us.

If you have any queries, please come and see either myself or Kath and we will be happy to help. Regards, Sabrina Weale – Canteen Manager
