Dear Parents and Caregivers

As explained in the last newsletter, this term we are having two sacramental ceremonies instead of one, as Fr John was unavailable in Term 1. Our Year 3 and Year 4 students are busy preparing to receive two sacraments of initiation (First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion) in the coming weeks. Please make sure you keep them in your prayers. 

Empathy Reflection Many of us were taught to ‘fear’ the Lord when we were young. I think that the original translation of ‘fear’ was misunderstood because I am told that in the Bible, God/Jesus tell us ‘not to be afraid’ 365 times. This sounds far more reassuring to me!

First Reconciliation Please note that the commitment Masses for the Year 3 students will be held this weekend 18 and 19 May in our parish. Please make sure your children attend this important Mass as they pledge themselves to the programme. The parent information night will be held on Wednesday 22 May from 7pm in the Church. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Over the past few years, the number of parents attending has declined and it would be great to see all of you there! On Monday 27 May, the students will participate in their retreat day in the hall, which will be run by 24/7 Youth Ministry. This is always a wonderful experience for our students. Finally, on Saturday 8 June from 8am, our students will make their First Reconciliation with Fr John. The Year 3 teachers will send further details home soon. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Maxwell, Mrs Robertson and Miss Koncurat for preparing our students so well. It promises to be a very special time for them.

First Holy Communion Our Year 4 students will receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time on either Saturday 25 May or Sunday 26 May. I know they are getting very excited now. I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Noone and Miss Millane for preparing the students so well. It promises to be a joyous occasion for everyone.

Year 6 Camp Without fail, this is always the highlight of the year for our Year 6 students. Once again, we are going to the Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in Hilliarys for three days of adventure and challenge. Many of our students will be taken out of their comfort zones (in a safe way) and there is a huge focus on teamwork. The camp will be held on 29, 30 and 31 May.

Kindergarten 2025 Places are filling fast, and one class is already full. If you have a younger child who is due to commence next year, please let the front office staff know as a high priority as we don’t want anyone to miss out. We think there are about 10 siblings who we don’t have on our books and we are keen to get them all enrolled asap please.

Code of Conduct Reminder All parents are reminded that everyone in our community is required to follow the CEWA Code of Conduct which is in place to protect us and make our school a safe and welcoming place for all. Unfortunately, when this code is not adhered to, conflicts can arise, leading to people feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. Please remember to always treat everyone with courtesy and respect at all times. You are reminded that you should never approach another parent’s child if you are unhappy with something. Only staff members can do this. The Code of Conduct is on the school’s website for you to read in full at any time. I will place segments of it in the newsletter each fortnight as a reminder. It is in everyone’s best interests that the Code is always adhered to.
